Who's to Blame?

The blame game took center stage this weekend as the local and national media continued to debate who's at fault following the terrorist attack at Fort Hood in Texas.

(Notice two things of above: 1) debate over who's at fault? Shouldn't this be clear already? and 2)Labeling the attack as a terrorist attack.)

Now I know the people at the New York Times and Washington Post are very busy trying to find ways to save their newspapers from going completely out of circulation, but to print headlines all weekend long blaming U.S. Foreign Policy for the attack and not the coward who killed our servicemen is a step in the wrong direction... a very very big step in the wrong direction.

Fact: Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan freely joined the military
Fact: Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was relocated from Walter Reed to Ft. Hood after debating the legitimacy of the ongoing wars with returning wounded soldiers
Fact: Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was never deployed to any active theater
Fact: Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan spent days leading up to the shooting stock piling weapons
Fact: Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan carried out an attack, on U.S. soil, targeting military personnel

Terrorism has had many faces throughout time. Every revolution, every conflict, even religions, have caused extreme acts to be carried out against the opposition. What is unique with Hasan, is he willingly joined the miltary and had his full education paid for. He then turned around and did a poor job executing his tasks, caused problems, and ultimately forced a relocation to Texas. MAYBE the news of his first deployment was the breaking point for him. MAYBE the news of increased violence and climbing death tolls caused him to panic. MAYBE this, MAYBE that... The facts are clear, he decided to carry out this attack, and he did carry it out.

It is unacceptable for the newspapers, magazines, and internet news outlets to blame U.S. Foreign Policy, President Bush, Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome, or ANYTHING or ANYONE not named Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan for the attack last week at Fort Hood. It is downright shameful that the media would excuse this cowards actions and pass the blame on to someone or something else in an effort to politicize this awful event.

There is only one person to blame for the dead at Fort Hood and the countless family members affected, and his name is Maj. Hasan. As of now he is recovering in a hospital under heavy security so that vigilante justice doesn't take place... but shouldn't it? He is being treated as a hero by Muslim fanatics, shouldn't an example be made here?

I wonder what the media would print then?

while nobody should give the guy a pass, we should consider the various circumstances surrouding the event right?

stress and anxiety can force people to do alot of things they otherwise wouldnt

Anonymous said...

people should refer to him as a muslim terrorist if it was any other religion that bit of info would be front and center

the previous post is correct, if this was a KKK member or some crazy christian zealot, it would be jesus at fault on the front page of the news but because its a muslim and nobody wants to offend a muslim its buried in the story as a footnote

Remember Joe, we have to "tolerant" and "humane" to MURDERERS here in America, but if it were a White Anglo-Saxon of some variety in saudi arabia, then they would be beheaded in-front of a crowd. Why is this schmuck getting medical care? Can we at least slip in one of those needles used for lethal injections? Come on! It IS in Texas!!
--Being serious though, why the medical care? Why the US foreign policy blame? why?! ..
LIBERAL MEDIA, that is why. Remember Joe, us rationally thinking conservatives are always in the wrong when it comes to something like this. IT IS ALWAYS AMERICAS FAULT.
oh and to the Anonymous poster who said
"while nobody should give the guy a pass, we should consider the various circumstances surrouding the event right?

stress and anxiety can force people to do alot of things they otherwise wouldnt"
Seriously? what stress? this lunatic was never even deployed, never served any kind of active duty ever. So what was he stressed from? trashing on America? yeah, liberals, thats all they do, but they don't stress over it, thats their job, remember?
Maj. Nadal Malik Hassan needs to be executed, tried as a murderer, with 13 counts of murder in the 1st degree which is exactly what he did. NO OPTION OF INSANITY PLEAS EITHER. NONE. NONE. NONE. No parole, just wait in line so that the families who will NEVER get to see their mothers, fathers, sons, husbands, wives, cousins, uncles and grandparents, will gain the rest that they need knowing a murderer isn't let free to see the light of day and become a repeat offender
and furthermore, Does it surprise no one that this man attended the SAME mosque as THREE of the attackers from September 11th?! HELLO. DEATH SENTENCE.

where is the evidence he attended the same mosque as 3 terrorists from 9/11 ??

There you go.

You are 100% right. And to the first comment about stress and anxiety: ARE YOU KIDDING ME? ARE YOU REALLY TRYING TO JUSTIFY MURDER RIGHT NOW? That is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard. Give me a break! Stress and anxiety should really excuse this murderer and terrorist for what he has done.

some people respond differently to stress than others right, why couldn't that have been a factor? I THINK CONSERVATIVES LIKE TO BLAME THE MEDIA FOR SPINNING STORIES AND NOT ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERRORISTS!

veraegy said...

Look, I did not say that "all muslims are terrorists", you said that i thought that.
blame the media? of course, look who its run by! it tries to hide the fact that this coward was muslim, and it doesn't matter what his religion is until you find out that he was conspiring with the extremist Imam in VA, Terrorist cells in Saudi Arabia, and taking spiritual advice and receiving praise for what he did from extremist muslim leaders,(Which all fits together if you know our recent history with people who are exposed to these radical imams!) oh and what is is this? -- he was assigned to Fort Hood after being asked to leave his previous post from making people incredibly uncomfortable with the forced indoctrination of his Islamic views ON THE MILITARY BASE, all while he was SUPPOSED to be advising military personnel on health issues on the base, that was his job, but he decided to bring up his religion and PEOPLE VOICED THEIR OPINIONS AGAINST IT. What stress was this man under? I'm still wondering.

I am not a liberal or a conservative and I generally don't care about peoples opinions however the case FOR Hasan being an extremist is much stronger than the case FOR him being crazy

As a lawyer, it would be much easier to show one than the other

He IS/WAS an extremist, and while I am against capital punishment, he deserves it as much as the DC Sniper did yesterday.
